Ronda - Teba
It is located in the northern border of Ronda's region. The village is placed over one mountain, and for this reason it has got a nice landscape, with rich labour fields at its bottom. At the same time it offers us the vision of a town over a hill, with the rests of the Star's castle on the top, a building which still has got one of its towers, most part of its wall and and spectacular arms courtyard.
Teba was an important place at the Conquest's battles and was conquered at the beginning of the 14th century by the troups ordered by the King Alfonso XI. The village has got a city museum whose contents are Phoenician, Iberian and Roman objects found at the village.
The church of the Holy Cross, built in the beginning of the 18th century is an important monument and containing remarkable sculptures inside. It is also important the church's treasure, consisting of different noble metal liturgical elements. From Teba come the families of the Guzman and the Portocarreros, ancestors of Eugenia de Montijo, empress of France due to her marriage with Napoleón III.
Its main Fair are celebrated on august, from 9th to 12th and on october, 6th, in honour of the Virgin of the Rosary, Patron Saint of the village. It is also famous the pilgrimage of St. Isidro Labrador, on may, 15th, where lots of carriages takes part at it. At the expanse of this town is located the reservoir of Guadalteba.
